Perhaps you’ve wondered why so many of your neighbors, people you work with, and many others in Colorado Springs go to church. What is it about church that draws so many people? This question, fundamentally, becomes, “What IS church all about?”
Why Should You Care?
It might be helpful, however, to start by saying what the church is not.
The church is not the spiritual version of Walmart, helping you to “Live Better.” Its purpose is not to build strong kids, families, and communities like the YMCA. It is not an educational institution like your local elementary school, neither does it provide law and order like our local, state, or federal governments. While the church will have something to do with all of these aspects of life, this is not what the church is.

The church is really God’s family which is seen in true assemblies of true believers all over the world.
We would like to introduce High Country Baptist Church to you, but our invitation to HCBC is really an invitation to become a member of God’s family.

The true church – yes, there are fake churches – is an assembly of people who follow Jesus Christ as Lord. They trust in him because He is the only One who can take away their sins and give them real life now and forever. When they turn away from their sin and trust Christ, He kindly makes them a part of His family.

Attending a church, even what the Bible describes as a “true” church, doesn’t guarantee that you know God or that you have had your sins cleansed and paid for.
Even though this web page is our invitation to you to join us at High Country Baptist Church, you must have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ that produces an acknowledgment of your sin, repentance for that sin, and a calling upon the Lord to save you from your sin and then making Jesus Christ Lord of your life.
Jesus Himself said, “This is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Thankfully, we believe that God is awakening hearts today to the emptiness of shallow Christianity and the absence of knowing God. We believe that men and women across the country are longing to know that they can have a right relationship with Him. We share this longing, too.
So for those who are looking for the latest and greatest entertainments or new fads that men and women in churches can devise, we have nothing to offer. If your soul, however, craves spiritual truth about God and Jesus Christ; virtue and wisdom; faith, hope, and love; holiness, truth, and obedience, then we invite you to come and see for yourself if High Country Baptist Church will meet those biblical needs in your life.
