What Is Important to Us at High Country Baptist Church
Our purpose as a church—what is important to us—is to know God and to make him known. We want to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourselves. Here is how we flesh that out.
GodWe emphasize the triune God as the ultimate ground of everything and that Jesus is Lord.
The BibleBecause of this, we emphasize the absolute authority and sufficiency of the Bible.
The GospelBecause we believe the Bible, we strive for gospel purity, clarity, and urgency. With all of our hearts, we want to invest in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ both here and around the world.
TheologyAlso because we believe the Bible, we want a robust theology which breaks us free from the secularization of Christianity and transforms us by the renewing of our minds.
The ChurchSo you can see that we emphasize Christ and the Gospel. This flows into our next emphasis, which is the Church. We are working hard to recover and rejoice in the biblical view of what the church is and what it means to be a part of the church. Things like unity in love, hospitality, and church discipline are important features of how we live together as Christ's people.
Corporate WorshipAs a church, we also want to grow in our corporate worship, especially delighting in multi-generational worship. We want all of our music to match the character of our holy God.
Preaching the Word, Corporate Prayer, The OrdinancesWe believe in the centrality of preaching the Word, and we stress corporate prayer. We also stress the importance of the biblical ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Worship, Culture, and Holy LivingOur worship as a church shapes our entire lives before the Lord. Worship drives culture. We want to model and proclaim the coming kingdom, and so we love holy living. It is important to us to show the world the joy of pleasing the Lord in every area of life.
Family DiscipleshipAs our worship flows into every area of life, we stress family discipleship. We want families who are seeking first the kingdom of God in production and reproduction. Things like family worship and truly Christian education are the backbone of our discipleship efforts.
